Fr. Emmanuel graduated from the University of Iowa in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in religion. After graduation he did extensive work with alcohol addiction and criminal justice related cases. In response to a strong calling to the priesthood, Fr. Emmanuel attended the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, MA graduating with a Master’s of Divinity degree in 1982. He was ordained as a priest in May 1982. Fr. Emmanuel spent one year of study at the Aristotelian University in Thessaloniki Greece in 1988-89. During this year of study, he visited the famous monastic enclave of Mount Athos in Northern Greece and experienced the living example of ancient Christian spirituality. He is interested in developing ways of incorporating the fruit of this spiritual treasury into counseling practice.
Fr. Emmanuel earned the Doctor of Philosophy degree (PHD) in Counseling, Rehabilitation and Student Development from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa in May 2010.
Fr. Emmanuel, a transplant from Cedar Rapids Iowa, is an ordained Greek Orthodox Priest in active parish ministry for over 30 years. In addition to parish ministry, Fr. Emmanuel spent time involved in missionary work in East Africa and in Calcutta, India.

Fr. Emmanuel’s special interest areas are spiritual guidance and faith-related issues, Clergy and Clergy families, alcohol and drug issues, Marriage preparation, marital counseling, grief and loss, Veterans and their families. Fr. Emmanuel is a Licensed Professional Counselor and credentialed to take major health insurance. He is a Prepare/Enrich facilitator and is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), Pennsylvania Counseling Association and the Greater Pittsburgh Counseling Association.
Fr. Emmanuel serves the Ambridge and Monaca offices. In addition to seeing clients in the Ambridge office site, he is available for online counseling.
