The Opioid Crisis:
Creating Church and Community Collaboration
The opioid epidemic has been declared a national emergency that resulted in 75% of the 64,000 overdose deaths last year alone. The church must be meaningfully involved in response, working collaboratively with other resources and institutions within the community. The morning session of this training will consider substance abuse and addiction generally, and then specifically focus on opioid addiction, treatment and recovery, and how the body of Christ can effectively respond as lay, pastoral, and mental health care providers.
