Joseph Maola, Ph.D., L.P.C

Dr. Maola graduated from Duquesne University with a Master of Science in Educational Psychology in1971. He also received a Master of Arts in Counseling Services from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1973, and his Ph.D. from the University of Akron in 1974 with a major in Counselor Education. He has been on the faculty of Duquesne University and has been a visiting faculty member with Lehigh University and the University of Phoenix.

Dr. Maola holds the following licenses and certifications:

  • Licensed Professional Therapist – State of Pennsylvania
  • National Certified Counselor (NCC)
  • Certified Play Therapist (CPS)
  • Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS)

Professional Experience:

Dr. Maola is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 40 years of academic, counseling, supervising and consulting experience. Dr. Maola has experience dealing with adolescents and adults in a variety of clinical settings.

Areas of Specialty:

Dr. Maola is skilled at working with individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan. He is trained to work with most areas of clinical disorder. Dr. Maola employs a faith-based approach using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, and Play Therapy.  He is also trained in Trauma focused therapy. Dr. Maola has extensive experience in working with clients with a wide range of issues including children who have experienced abuse, neglect, and trauma.
