Jim Place, L.P.C.
Jim graduated in 2002 with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Gannon University. In addition to his counseling work, he serves as a Clinical Supervisor for Christian Counseling Associates Erie and Western New York Regions. Jim holds the following license: Licensed Professional Counselor (State of Pennsylvania) and American Association of Christian Counselors, Member.
Jim has 29 years of experience working with clients in a variety of settings that include:
- Outpatient Mental Health Counseling
- Community Mental Health Services
- Forensic Counseling in Correctional Settings
- Parole Agent
- Guidance Counseling in Educational Settings
Jim works with adolescents and adults. He is skilled at working with individuals, couples, and groups. Jim is trained to work with most areas of clinical disorder. Clinically, he employs a Faith-Based Approach using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral and Solution Focused Therapies. Jim specializes in addressing the following clinical areas:
- Antisocial behavior
- Anger Management
- Anxiety
- Codependency
- Domestic Abuse
- Depression
- Marital and premarital issues
- Self Esteem
- Sexual Abuse
Jim integrates Faith-Based Counseling by incorporating biblical principles and prayer in each session. He is an active member in a local church in the Erie area.
