Brian Dougherty, M.S.

Brian graduated from Gannon University in 1997 with a Master of Science in Counseling. He is currently in the prelicensing phase of his training and is under the supervision of Licensed Clinical Supervisor at Christian Counseling Associates.


Professional Experience:

Brian has an extensive background in educational settings providing both leadership and clinical intervention.  During his time as a school principal, he performed as a guidance counselor working with children, adolescents, and families. Brian specializes in the following areas: 

  • Developmental Counseling with Children and Adolescents
  • Marital and Relationship Counseling 
  • Career Counseling and Guidance

Areas of Specialty:

Brian works with individuals from across the lifespan.  He is skilled at working with individuals, couples, families, and groups.  Clinically, he employs a faith-based approach using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, and Interpersonal Therapy in his work with clients. 

Brian is skilled at providing empirically-validated, faith-based approaches for most issues including:

  • Anxiety and OCD
  • Marital and Family Issues
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Grief and Depression
  • Impulsive Control Disorders

Brian integrates Faith-Based Counseling by incorporating biblical principles and prayer in each session. He is an active church member.
