Allen earned his Bachelor of Religious Education and his Master of Divinity at Baptist Bible College, Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. Additionally, Allen holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania and has completed studies toward his doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Denver Seminary, Denver, Colorado.
Beginning his career as a Corrections Counselor, Allen has over 30 years of experience in law enforcement and corrections having served as a Counselor and Unit Manager, eventually being promoted to Corrections Classification and Program Manager (CCPM). His duties included conducting individual and group counseling, treatment programming, unit mission development, and inmate adjustment. Additionally, as pastor of a Baptist congregation in Nanty-Glo, Pennsylvania, Allen performed all pastoral duties; providing leadership and spiritual direction for staff and parishioners.

Allen specializes in addiction and trauma and believes integrating faith into counseling along with other evidence-based practices is effective in achieving treatment goals. He strives to bring an effective blend of experience, expertise, clarity, concern and action to the counseling process hoping to maximize outcomes and provide genuine healing and wholeness to individuals, marriages and families.
